Alton House Hotel, Hampshire

Recently I had the pleasure to visit The Alton House Hotel in Alton, Hampshire. This was a special opportunity for me as it is where my husband and I got married back in July 2012!
This time around I was able to meet the lovely, Issy Bucknall, Events Co-ordinator at the Alton House Hotel. Issy has lots of experience working in the wedding and events industry. She is open to the ideas that couples or families have for their special events.
The hotel is a great venue with a large licensed room, The Jane Austen Suite, and also the outside licensed, Gazebo. Having an indoors and outdoors option available makes it versatile and suitable for most different wedding styles. There is no need for a licence if you choose to have a Celebrant led wedding, this allows for much more personalisation and individuality. However, it is nice to have the option available should you choose a registrar led wedding. To learn more about these different ceremony options please click he

The Jane Austen Suite
The Jane Austen Suite can accommodate a maximum of 120 guests. It has a beautiful central stone fireplace as a backdrop for the ceremony. Furthermore, there are patio doors along one side of the room letting in natural light, giving beautiful views into the garden. The room lends itself to being decorated to the couple’s or family’s taste. For example this can be, floral arrangements, balloons or themed decorations etc.

The Gazebo
The Gazebo in the garden is a gorgeous setting for an outdoor wedding. The couple along with the officiant conduct the ceremony from under the Gazebo. Meanwhile, the guests watch from their seats set-up on the lawn. The garden itself at the Alton House Hotel is luscious and has a decorative cart filled with colourful flowers. I fondly remember this from my own wedding. My bridesmaids and I had many posed photos incorporating the flower cart!

I Can Be Your Celebrant!
When my husband and I tied the knot, there was another room just off of the Pemberley Suite which was used for our ceremony. This is no longer used for ceremonies. However, our reception took place in the Jane Austen Suite so I am familiar with this room too. Now the ceremony, reception and evening do can take place in the Jane Austen Suite, it is simply turned around while guests enjoy the garden or newly renovated bar area.
I would absolutely love to officiate weddings at the Alton House Hotel and share the love I have for the venue with you. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
